The chassis is based on a swing-type suspension with a balancing beam and rolling axles installed in the front. The Komatsu D65E-12 is equipped with Komatsu's proprietary TORQFLOW transmission, which includes a 3-element single-stage single-phase torque converter with forced liquid cooling and a hydraulic planetary gearbox with a multi-plate clutch, devoid of mechanical flaws. The gearbox has forced lubrication to remove excess heat. Switching speeds (3 forward and 3 reverse) is carried out using a joystick. The final drive with planetary and spur gears helps reduce shock loads on the transmission. The use of a segmented gear allows damaged areas to be replaced in the field.
