Walk-behind tractor cascade repair instructions

Cascade: Russian walk-behind tractors with reinforced gearboxes

The Perm production association OJSC Reductor-PM was created on August 31, 1995, on the basis of the holding company OJSC Perm Motors and is known for its production of helicopter transmissions and gearboxes. In 2006, it mastered a new production of single-cylinder four-stroke engines and walk-behind tractors “Cascade”. Motoblocks "Cascade" are produced using the latest technologies used in the creation of aviation equipment, with constant monitoring of product quality.

The first "Cascade" walk-behind tractors produced were equipped with domestic engines from the Kaluga Machine-Building Plant. DM68 6 hp had a low cost and noisy operation of the unit. The engine has been in production for more than 20 years, during which time several modifications have been developed, but today walk-behind tractors with foreign-made engines are becoming increasingly popular.

Walk-behind tractors "Cascade" are presented in the following series:

Features of the walk-behind tractor after adjustment

For long-term operation of the walk-behind tractor, it is important not only to know how to properly adjust the carburetor, but also to understand how to operate the equipment after adjustment.

First you need to control the operation of the motor. The owner will need to identify any interference or malfunctions by the sound of the engine. For example, a squeaking sound when shifting gears indicates stretching of the clutch cable. To avoid aggravation, it should be stopped for at least 20 minutes to allow the cable to return to normal.

In addition, when working you must:

  • Warm up the engine cylinder block well, allowing it to idle for at least 3 minutes;
  • Watch for sequential gear changes. do not “jump” between speeds through one;
  • It is important to maintain the distance between the garden border and the cultivated soil. if the plow hits a heavily compacted area, it will affect the operation of the gearbox;
  • Do not allow the level of gasoline in the tank to drop below the permissible level. You can find out about this in the walk-behind tractor operating instructions.
  • To avoid compromising the stability of the gearbox, constantly monitor the engine oil level. It is best to add it when the liquid in the reservoir is half its volume.

Following all these standards, the owner of a walk-behind tractor will not experience any difficulties immediately after adjusting the carburetor.

  • 02 series steering (rotating steering column);

Design Features

The Cascade walk-behind tractor consists of four main elements: engine, transmission, chassis and controls. The chassis also includes the metal tubular frame of the walk-behind tractor with the wheels attached to it. An important feature of the “Cascade” is the ability to change its track, that is, the inter-wheel space, during operation.

The wheels on these walk-behind tractors are used both rubber pneumatic and rubber cast, as well as weighted metal ones. You can use the Cascade walk-behind tractor without wheels - with cultivator cutters. The cultivator for "Cascade" - "KMB 1.002.000" - has a diameter of 350 mm and provides rotary cultivation of the soil to a depth of 20 cm, with a working width of 45 cm (when installing two cutters) and up to 93 cm (when installing four cutters).

The function of transmitting torque from the engine to the wheels is performed by the walk-behind tractor transmission. It consists of a clutch, gearbox and chain reducer. These individual transmission elements are installed on Cascade walk-behind tractors, both individually and in a single unit. Other operational functions of the walk-behind tractor transmission are assistance in adjusting the speed of work and ensuring its turns while moving along the work area.

Design Features

Any of the internal combustion engines on the Cascade walk-behind tractors - gasoline, carburetor, single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled. Ignition is electronic non-contact. Spark plug - type “A11-1 OST 37.003.081-98”.

The engine is started using a manual starter with a pull cord. The noise level at the walk-behind tractor operator's workplace is, according to the manufacturer, 89 dBA. The vibration level on the controls (local vibration) does not exceed 135 dBA.

Over the years of production, they have tried to install on this equipment, with similar technical characteristics, both domestic engines produced in-house by the Perm plant, and Chinese “Briggs and Stratton”, “Honda”. (Yes, “Briggs & Stratton” is an American-Japanese company, but engines for walk-behind tractors of these brands are made in China). Gradually, Russian-made engines became a thing of the past, and the “Cascades” of recent years of production are all equipped with Chinese “engines”.

Walk-behind tractor Cascade: owner reviews

Auto mechanic, specializes in agricultural equipment

Many owners of farms and large private plots have long switched to mechanization of soil cultivation using small agricultural machinery. Motoblocks that are especially popular in our country include units of the Cascade brand, which are produced at the Perm plant. The Cascade walk-behind tractor has technical characteristics that are optimally suited for such land farms and meets international quality standards.

Step-by-step instructions for setting up a carburetor

  1. We are warming up the engine.
  2. Tighten the maximum and minimum gas screws fully.
  3. We unscrew the same screws only 1.5 turns.
  4. Set the gear shift lever to the minimum travel position. At the same time, the engine continues to run.
  5. Normal engine operation should be quiet and smooth.

Such an operation must be carried out by cascaded units at each beginning of the season or at the end of the season. Due to the fact that the screws are tightened, the fuel is enriched. But their slight relaxation increases the air in the mixture.

To make sure you get everything right during tuning, you just need to pay attention to the spark plugs. After prolonged hard work on the walk-behind tractor for a short time, no deposits or traces of fuel should form on the spark plugs.

Description and technical characteristics of Cascade walk-behind tractors

Cascade walk-behind tractors have won recognition among Russian consumers due to their performance, ease of design and versatility. The design of these units can be called classic; it includes four groups of components: power plant, transmission, chassis and control. Speaking about the engines used in the units, for now we note that various Russian and imported engines are used in different modifications. We will look at them in more detail below, in the review of Cascade walk-behind tractor models.

The transmission design includes a clutch, a gearbox (depending on the model - chain or gear) and a gearbox with two forward and two reverse speeds.

Attention! The unit is designed for use in temperature conditions from -5 to +35 degrees. Operating in hotter temperatures can cause the engine to overheat and damage the piston rings.

A convenient feature of the chassis is the ability to adjust the track width. The design itself is also familiar - mechanisms and an axle are installed on a rigid frame. It is possible to install both pneumatic wheels and rigid metal ones.

Carburetor and stage adjustment device

The device diagram for carburetors of any type has a general principle and similar components and parts:

  • Branch pipe, air intake duct;
  • Unit body;
  • Sinking float;
  • Calibrated dosing hole (nozzle);
  • Throttle position adjustment screw;
  • Fuel mixture control screw;
  • Fuel receiver injector with filter;
  • Float chamber to maintain fuel level;
  • Throttle control lever;
  • Hole for draining the fuel mixture.

The owner of a walk-behind tractor, knowing the design of the carburetor, can make his own adjustments, which will increase its service life.

Adjustment of the carburetor on the cascade should be carried out at the first signs of unstable operation. The mechanism is adjusted at the beginning of spring work or at the end of the season.

Carburetor tuning has some features. The main condition is to warm up the engine, so the following sequence of actions is used here:

  • Turn both gas screws until they stop, then turn them in the opposite direction 1.5 turns;
  • Start the engine and warm up for 10 minutes;
  • With the engine running, set the control lever to minimum speed;
  • Set the idle speed to minimum to keep the engine running smoothly. This is done using the throttle valve adjusting screw;
  • Turn the engine idle to maximum using the idle screw;
  • Reduce engine idle speed to minimum using throttle stop screw;
  • Alternately display idle speed at least and maximum until the engine starts running continuously
  • Secure the engine control lever in the “gas” position;
  • In case of interruptions, lightly tighten the maximum gas screw, max. 2.5 turns;

If all adjustments are carried out correctly, the engine will run continuously, smoothly and quietly.

Another indicator of proper carburetor adjustment is the spark plug. No traces of soot or fuel were found on these elements of the walk-behind tractor after long and hard work.

There is an individual setting for each type of carburetor.
