Sequence of actions for reading errors.

Turn on the ignition and wait for the main screen to appear.

We activate the parking brake.

Press the “Down” button until we move to the “Diagnostics” item.

Press the “Menu” button and proceed to selecting subsystems for diagnostics.

Using the “Up” or “Down” buttons, select the “Engine” item or the system whose electronic control unit needs to be diagnosed. Press the “Menu” button.

Brake retarder warning lamp.

The retarder warning light comes on in Bremsomat mode, if the retarder is in active mode, and also with constant brake levels.

After turning on the ignition and setting the main brake switch to the “On” position, the brake system automatically checks the operation of the warning lamp.

the warning lamp flashes when the retarder is applied.

  • Turn off the ignition.
  • Set the brake level lever one step lower than the maximum brake level, in this case position 4.
  • Turn on the ignition and wait for the retarder warning light to remain on (3 seconds) or flash (5 seconds).
  • Within 5 seconds, set the brake level lever two steps lower than the maximum brake level (in this case, position 3), and then again one step lower than the maximum brake level (in this case, position 4).
  • Wait for the flashing code to be issued.

In addition to the normal function, the retarder warning lamp serves to issue a flashing code (error number).

If the flashing code is activated by the brake level lever, then at the end of the lamp control or, respectively, after 5 seconds, a constant flashing starts (in case of a malfunction), which sequentially displays the error number stored in the error memory.

  • Turn off the ignition.
  • Set the brake level lever to position 4 (max. position -1).
  • Turn on the ignition and wait for the retarder warning light to remain on (3 seconds) or flash (5 seconds).
  • Within 5 seconds, set the brake level lever to position 3 (max. position -2), again to position 4 (max. position -1), and then to position 0.
  • All errors indicated by the flash code are cleared to produce a flash code.

By issuing a flashing code, only those errors from the control unit that interfere with correct operation can be read out. Errors that do not affect the function of the control unit can only be read out using a separate diagnostic tool.

Erasing the error memory using the brake stage lever makes the errors stored in the error memory invisible to the flashing code. With a separate diagnostic tool, all errors are visible until they are cleared using the diagnostic tool.

What errors does the control unit produce on a KAMAZ 5490 vehicle?

If the problem has affected the battery potential, when the voltage is lower than normal or a short circuit has occurred, SPN 158 fmi 4 will appear on the display. You need to check the electrical supply terminal 15, the ignition switch, line output 15 for other voltage drops when the ignition is started. How to decipher error codes
