The Belarus-09N walk-behind tractor
is designed for plowing light soils, harrowing, cultivating, inter-row processing of potatoes and beets, mowing grass in gardens and orchards, on school and personal plots, as well as for transporting goods, stationary work driven by a PTO.

The Belarus walk-behind tractor is ideal for use in farms and household plots, on livestock farms, for work in greenhouses, orchards, vegetable gardens, parks and squares, in school grounds, etc. The Belarus-09H walk-behind tractor has a wide range of small-sized attachments for agricultural and public works[1].

Story

The Belarus-09N walk-behind tractor was designed in 1992. The first walk-behind tractor came off the production line in the same year. Over the years, the tractor has been modified. Belarus-09N is a modification of the originally produced Belarus-05 walk-behind tractor.

In December 2009, the Smorgon Aggregate Plant produced its 15,000th walk-behind tractor[2]. Walk-behind tractors are in good demand among consumers and therefore 5 thousand walk-behind tractors have been produced over the past year and a half. Every month, ~350 walk-behind tractors rolled off the assembly line, which were equipped with various mounted and trailed equipment.

On March 11, 2011, the 20,000th walk-behind tractor was assembled at the Smorgon Aggregate Plant[3]. Every month ~400 walk-behind tractors roll off the plant’s assembly line. Apart from Belarus, walk-behind tractors are supplied mainly to countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and more recently to Venezuela and the USA.

General description of model 09N

A more modern appearance and improved technical characteristics are what distinguishes the Belarus 09N walk-behind tractor from the previous model 05N. Feedback from farmers about this unit is also extremely positive.

“Belarus 09N” is a universal unit intended for use mainly in small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises. Unlike conventional cultivators, it can be used to perform a wide variety of agricultural work - from plowing the land to harvesting.

If necessary, this convenient walk-behind tractor can easily be converted even into a mini-tractor. For this, a special adapter with a seat is used. With such an addition, a summer resident or farmer has the opportunity to perform agricultural work with maximum comfort. Indeed, in this case, there is no need to follow the walk-behind tractor on foot across the entire field. The advantages of the 09N model, among other things, include the fact that it is suitable for both adapters designed specifically for MTZ and universal equipment of this type.

Design

Engine

The MTZ-09N walk-behind tractors were equipped with single-cylinder four-stroke gasoline engines Honda GX270[4], Lifan LF177 or Kipor KG280[5]. Engine displacement is 270 cm3. Rated power 6.6 kW (9 hp).

Transmission

Motoblocks MTZ-09N were equipped only with a mechanical transmission. multi-plate clutch, permanently closed, operating in an oil bath with manual control; The gearbox is mechanical, stepped, with constant meshing of gears. Number of gears: 4 forward, 2 reverse.

general characteristics

The clutch is a multi-plate clutch, operating in oil, with manual control. The gearbox is stepped, mechanical with constant meshing of gears. The main gear is bevel gears with a spiral tooth. The differential is a bevel gear with forced locking. The final drives are single-stage with spur gears. The running system is a 2×2 wheel arrangement. Walk-behind tractor wheels with 6L-12 pneumatic tires. The air pressure in the tires, depending on the load, is 0.08 - 0.12 MPa. Fuel supply control is a lever with a cable drive. The gearbox is controlled by levers through a rod system. The power take-off shaft is controlled by a lever on the transmission housing. The differential lock is controlled by a lever through a rod system. The steering is a rod control, adjustable in height and in the horizontal plane with the ability to change to reverse, position to the left or right at an angle of 15°. Braking system - a unit consisting of a walk-behind tractor and a trailer (the brakes are installed on the trailer) is equipped with brakes with the ability to brake the unit in motion and when parked. Power take-off shaft with rotation speed (at rated crankshaft speed) - 1200 rpm. The towing device is a bracket with a kingpin, a tubular hitch. The height of the connection point is 369.5 mm[1].

Preparing the MTZ walk-behind tractor for plowing

Belarusian MTZ walk-behind tractor
The Belarusian MTZ walk-behind tractor performs one of the key functions - plowing the soil. For equipment to work efficiently, it must be adjusted correctly.

Tips for preparing the walk-behind tractor for work:

  • “hitch-walk-behind tractor” connection. The hitch is secured with one pin, maintaining play in a horizontal position in the range of 5-6 degrees. It is not recommended to fix the hitch with two pins or completely eliminate the play; this will lead to a rigid connection;
  • setting the required plowing depth - optimally up to 7 cm. For this purpose, rearrange the plow stand relative to the lock. Fixation is carried out using a bolted connection. To perform such actions, the rack must have appropriate holes;
  • changing the angle of attack. This is done using an adjusting bolt or rearranging bolted connections. The first method is much more convenient. The walk-behind tractor with the plow is placed on a flat surface. The screw is unscrewed until the plow's bottom surface touches the ground. Then it scrolls in the opposite direction until the back of the plow rises by 2-3 cm;
  • furrow adjustment The first furrow should be as straight as possible. To compensate for the tilt when entering a furrow, the function of turning the hitch at a small angle is used;
  • choice of wheels with weights. For optimal linear speed their diameter should be 500 mm.

Video examples will help you quickly cope with equipment settings. When preparing, it is worth considering the power of a diesel/gasoline walk-behind tractor, as well as its weight.
