GAZelle Business
- a family of Russian light-duty vehicles produced at the Gorky Automobile Plant since 2010. It differs from the basic Gazelle model in the increased reliability of its components. The service mileage was increased from 10 to 15 thousand km, the warranty period was increased to two years or 80 thousand km. Fuel consumption was reduced by 5%[2], braking distance was reduced by 8%[1].
According to AUTO-Consulting, the new modification has incorporated “as many improvements as the Gazelle has not had since its inception.”[3]
Story
Design work began in 2008.[4] Based on statistics of warranty repairs and sales of spare parts, as well as surveys of dealers and on the website gazell.ru (the official website of the family), 20 units were modified, 130 changes were made to the design.[4]
Mass-produced since February 4, 2010. At the presentation of the car in the fake license plate of the first one to come off the Gazelle-Business assembly line, the price and name of the plant were encrypted: G

In Ukraine - May 14[5], in Azerbaijan - May 22[6], in Kazakhstan - May 28[7], in Armenia - June 18[8].
In April 2010, at the ComTrans-2010 exhibition, the GAZ Group, together with the Italian company OMVL, presented a modification with gas cylinder equipment.
On June 2, 2010, the president of the GAZ Group, Boo Anderson, announced that Cummins had been chosen as the supplier of a 2.8 liter diesel engine for Gazelle Business. Production of the modification with Cummins ISF turbodiesels began on July 20[9], and sales started on September 6, 2010. "Gazelle Business" with a diesel engine received a cruise control option as standard. In April 2011, diesel vehicles accounted for 15% of sales.[10]
In 2010, it was planned to produce 65 thousand GAZelle Business vehicles.[4] Sales in the first half of 2010 amounted to 10 thousand, which accounted for 35% of the total number of GAZelle vehicles sold during this period.[11] In December 2010, the share of BUSINESS models in total sales reached 94%.[12]
In June 2011, sales reached 100 thousand cars.[13] In June, Sanden air conditioners began to be installed as an option, and at the same time the car received an upgraded UMZ-4216.70 engine.
At the end of 2011, Gazelle Business became the sales leader on the Russian market in the light commercial vehicle segment.
In February 2013, a batch of 10 pre-production LNG (compressed methane) vehicles was transferred to Gazenergoset Nizhny Novgorod LLC.[14]
Gorky Automobile Plant launched a new version of a commercial truck
The GAZ Group has launched a diesel modification of the premium version of its main light commercial truck, the Gazelle Business, the production of which started at the beginning of the year. Cars equipped with Cummins diesel engines will be approximately 20% more expensive than Gazelles-business with gasoline engines - from 525 thousand rubles. Given the increased demand for the new version of the Gazelles, the group does not rule out localizing the production of Cummins units in Nizhny Novgorod. According to analysts, diesel Gazelles will account for about 13% of GAZ’s total LCV production this year, or about 10 thousand vehicles, and engine localization is rational when producing at least 100 thousand engines.
The start of production of modernized Gazelle Business light commercial vehicles equipped with Cummins diesel engines was announced yesterday by the President of the GAZ Group, Bo Andersson. The vehicles will be equipped with turbocharged Cummins ISF units of Euro-3 standard with a displacement of 2.8 liters and a power of 120 horsepower.
Thus, GAZ is expanding the line of Gazelle-business cars, the production of which started in February of this year. With the updated version of the Gazelle, the group marked the beginning of “large-scale changes in the company,” almost immediately launching the Gazelle Business with a gasoline engine from the Ulyanovsk Motor Plant and gas equipment. The group positions Gazelle-business as a car that has undergone more than 20 design and over 130 production and technological changes. Thus, the steering mechanism, brake system, interior (new instrument panel, heating system, sound insulation, etc.) and exterior (new bumper and radiator trim) have been modernized. As a result, the cost of operating the car has been reduced by 10%, but the car itself has risen in price by about 9% compared to the standard configuration (425 thousand instead of 390 thousand rubles)
The new modification of the Gazelle Business will be approximately 20% more expensive than the gasoline version - about 525 thousand rubles. However, according to Bu Andersson, this is one and a half to two times cheaper than European analogues and 40% cheaper than LCV foreign cars assembled in Russia. Moreover, as GAZ emphasizes, a model with a diesel engine will have fuel consumption on average one third lower than that of a Gazelle Business with a gasoline engine. According to the plant, the car will consume 8.5 liters and 10.3 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km at speeds of 60 and 80 km/h, respectively. According to the president of the GAZ group, this will reduce the cost of operating a car with a new unit by 20% over a life cycle of about 500 thousand km.
The official start of sales of diesel Gazelles-business is scheduled for September 1 this year. The estimated share of diesel Gazelles in total sales in the group is not disclosed, promising to focus on demand indicators. In general, GAZ's production volume this year, as Bo Andersson clarified yesterday, will be 75 thousand of all modifications of LCV (Gazelle, Sobol, Valdai families) - this is about 10% more than the level previously set by the group (65 thousand .). Given the increased demand for Gazelle Business with diesel, the group’s top manager did not rule out the possibility of localizing the production of Cummins engines in Nizhny Novgorod.
How many cars did the GAZ group sell in the first half of the year?
This would make the diesel version of the Gazelle cheaper, believes TKB Capital analyst Artem Lavrishchev. But, according to Andrey Rozhkov, an analyst at IFC Metropol, localization is justified with a production volume of 100 thousand engines per year: “It is clear that at the initial stage GAZ will not be able to consume such a volume on its own. Therefore, in this case, we can talk not only about meeting the production needs of the plant, but also about supplies to other domestic automakers.” According to Artem Lavrishchev's forecasts, under an optimistic scenario, by the end of the year GAZ will be able to sell about 10 thousand diesel versions of the Gazelle, or about 13% of the total projected volume of GAZ LCV production in 2010. “The sales volume may be larger if the group productively participates in corporate tenders,” the analyst does not rule out. UBS analyst Kirill Tachennikov associates the revision of plans for production volumes more likely with the fact that the country's automobile market is demonstrating a higher rate of recovery than expected, rather than with the launch of a new product. “The price is 525 thousand rubles. “translates Gazelle Business into the price segment of light commercial vehicles of foreign brands produced in Russia,” notes Mr. Tachennikov. In these conditions, the plant will have to offer additional options that can attract buyers, says Metropol IFC analyst Andrey Rozhkov. In his opinion, the plans voiced by the top managers of the GAZ group to release next year the Gazelle Business Plus with an installed air conditioning system may become one of the options for solving this problem.

Differences from the Gazelle family
Externally, commercial vehicles of the Gazelle-Business family differ from vehicles of the Gazelle family of recent years of production by having a radiator grille integrated into the front bumper (these elements can be either painted or unpainted, depending on the equipment of a particular vehicle), as well as a new color scheme cabs or bodies. Inside, the cars of the new family differ from their predecessors in a different front panel, steering wheel, standard audio system with a Blaupunkt head unit, and a new control unit for the cabin or front cabin heater.
The UMZ-4216 engine (in the updated family of commercial vehicles - UMZ-4216.10) received a new injection control program, due to which the maximum torque (220.5 Nm) is achieved at a rather low 2500 rpm for a gasoline engine. The Gazelle-Business family included Anvis Group engine mounts, a TRM aluminum-core radiator, and Bosch and Brisk electrical components. Bosch products were used in the brake drive (in particular, the main brake cylinder and vacuum brake booster), ZF and Sachs components were used in the clutch drive, power steering from ZF Lenksysteme and electrically heated exterior mirrors were also introduced as standard.
Since 2010, a new modification of the car began to be equipped with an American-designed Cummins ISF turbocharged diesel engine, while production of the Gazelle with an Austrian-made Steyer diesel engine was discontinued in 2008.[15]
Gazelle Next Autoshop
“Multifunctional space for luxury retail” is what the creators themselves call the improved version of this car. Behind such a quick formulation lies a completely worthy improvement to the regular Gazelle Next, which entrepreneurs engaged in outbound trade will no doubt want to take possession of.
The exterior of the model shines with novelty and fresh solutions. This cute van will charm you with its smiling radiator grille, unusual glass slope, strict edges and an impressive bumper with an additional air intake. The side walls of the car are folded up, forming two wide showcases, glazed with a single-chamber package.
The car will go on sale in 3-seater and 7-seater versions. Many sockets, pull-out cabinets, cup holders, an office compartment, a storage closet, a toilet and much more, depending on the purpose, will be installed on board. The special version of Gazelle Next has the following technical characteristics:
- Lockable differential;
- Suspension: independent double wishbone at the front and stabilizer at the rear;
- 150-horsepower diesel engine;
- Vehicle length varies from 3100 mm to 4200 mm;
